3 simple ways to get your bedroom ready for Christmas

christmas bedroom ideas

Christmas is not just  for kids, adults love Christmas too! Feeling happy and joyous throughout the festive period is for all.  We decorate our homes, but this tends to be mainly the living areas, lounge, dining room and sometimes external decorations. We usually give little thought to decorating the bedroom, but waking up feeling all Christmassy is a feeling second to none.

1. Fairy lights make everything “merry and bright”

Fairy lights are not just for Christmas trees and a roof. Put fairy lights along your headboard, down your curtains or even delicately over curtain rails. If you are lucky enough to have a sheltered outside area, why not add some waterproof solar powered fairy lights? No plugs near your bed or curtains? Not a problem: you can get battery powered fairy lights, meaning there is no limit to where they can go!

2. Christmas bedding is a must

I know what you are thinking: “Christmas bedding is tacky” – you might think that, but hear me out. Your bed is the biggest piece of furniture in your bedroom and also the focal point. So, dressing your bed to fit your style but bringing out a festive mood is a must. You don’t need to buy a bright Christmas themed duvet cover, you can go for a subtle starry design too! Have a look at some options below:

Brushed cotton

Brushed cotton is warm and soft and just by looking at it, gives you a cosy feeling.  To give you a contemporary look you can go for the many Scandinavian style designs that are available or even something like a stag print.

Traditional Christmas designs

You can create a traditional look to your bedroom by using traditional Christmas colours like reds and greens. Mix these up with bits of gold and silver decor, like tinsel, cushions, and throws and you will have a gorgeous looking bedroom.

All out Christmas!

One way you can be totally Christmas with your bedroom by using fun Christmas bedding. Bright reds, greens and Father Christmas himself smack bang in the middle. I couldn’t think of a better way to add Christmas spirit into your bedroom!

3. Christmas candles (my favourite!)

Don’t forget that you can make your bedroom smell like Christmas too. A lovely candle with a Christmas fragrance like Frankincense and Merr or something a bit more wintery will give your bedroom a lovely aroma.

If you aren’t a fan of candles, you can get equally as good smelling wax melts! Try looking for Christmas themed scents like cinnamon, ginger and poinsetta. If you don’t know where to buy these, your local Christmas market will always have something for you!

I discovered my favourite wax melts (I don’t go anywhere else now!) at Bramhall Christmas market. You can have a look at Solu candles here!
